The scarce First US printing published by Little, Brown and Co. in 1937.The BOOK is in VERY GOOD++ or better condition.The Boards are relatively clean for their age.Corners lightly bumped and rubbed in places. The spine tips are pushed and lightly frayed at the upper end.Hint of a lean and some foxing of the upper text block which does not extend to the pages. Blue titling and vignette still very bright.Pages very clean and free from inscription.The extremely scarce WRAPPER is in VERY GOOD++ condition being complete and the true first issue.There is NO fading of spine colouring. Some edge wear with rubbing and nicks more-so to the upper spine.Small closed tear to the front spine fold.The wonderful period ANDREW WYETH wrapper artwork looks stunning in the removable Brodart archival protector.Andrew Wyeth has illustrated the book with 4 B/W drawings and the frontispiece.Wyeth was a visual artist, primarily a realist painter,working predominantly in a regionalist style.He was one of the best-known U.S. artists of the middle 20th century.The author's elusive second book and a key children's title.Not published in a UK edition with the Wyeth illustrations.Scarce in wrapper. ashtonrarebooks welcomes direct contact.
