Townend, Jack ~ A Story About Ducks : First Issue
Faber and Faber : 1945
The First UK printing published by Faber and Faber in 1945. The BOOK is in Very Good+ condition with just a little splaying of the upper board. Free from inscriptions and erasures. A little age related markings to the contents. Protected in a loose archival Mylar covering. The book was published lithographically at the Baynard Press in London, during a period of ink and paper rationing. The resultant illustrations are very striking. Jack Townend studied at the Slade School of Art – under the direction of Randolph Schwabe. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 1946. Jack Townend has recently had the recognition he deserves with the The 'V and A' museum recently reprinting many of his titles. A very scarce wartime production title. Collectible.
