Number 172 of only 200 copies Signed by both the author and illustrator. Light spotting to the prelims and some of the page edges. Inscribed to the half-title by the illustrator to his fellow artist and Great Bardfield resident; 'Michael Rothenstein from John Aldridge, October 1947'. The ten full page wood engraved illustrations by Aldridge are very striking. A wonderful association copy.
