Mantel, Hilary ~ The Mirror And The Light : Signed And Pre-Publication Dated By The Author : With Ephemeral Items (Two Bookmarks, ‘The World Of Wolf Hall Reading Guide’ And The Waterstones Signing Event Flyer)
Fourth Estate, London : 2020
The First UK printing published by Fourth Estate, London in 2020. This is the Waterstones edition with the additional short chapter 'Tudor places' to the rear. The BOOK is in Fine unread condition. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Fine condition. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. The book has been flatsigned (without dedication) by the author to the title page. Not to be confused with the 'Waterstones signed limited edition' which has an additional tipped-in page signed by then author. This copy was signed by Hilary Mantel at Waterstones (Piccadilly, London) at the special pre-publication book launch on the evening of the 4th March 2020. This event was open to only 200 ticket holders and copies available to purchase for signing were strictly limited. The Waterstones First UK edition was the only edition available on the evening. A copy of the event ticket accompanies this title as provenance. Accompanying the book are the publisher's two promotional Bookmarks (one of which, the Lion logo is especially scarce), the promotional reading guide 'The World of Wolf Hall', the publisher's promotional flyer and the Waterstones signing event Flyer. Hilary Mantel attended very few literary events in the UK once the book was published. As such, at the time of listing, the only available signed copies of this title are the much more commonly encountered pre-signed limited edition copies with the tipped in page and the few copies such as this one, that were flat-signed at the Waterstones pre-launch event on the 4th March 2020. A highly collectible title with such attributes which marks the long awaited conclusion of the Booker Prize winning 'Wolf Hall' trilogy. The BBC TV adaptation of this third part of the 'Wolf Hall Trilogy' is due to be imminently released. Very collectible.
