The author's first novel and scarce with the wrapper
Linklater, Eric ~ White Maa’s Saga : With The Striking Dorothy Burroughes Wrapper
Jonathan Cape, London : 1929
The First UK printing published by Jonathan Cape, London in 1929. The Book is in near Fine condition with just a little light spotting and toning to the upper text-block. Free from inscriptions and erasures. Internally clean with slight offsetting to the end-papers. The scarce WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ or better condition with just one small handling mark. The wrapper artwork is by Dorothy Burroughes who studied at The Slade School of Art. The wrapper looks striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. The author's first novel, establishing the Orcadian theme that would pervade his fiction - set partly on the islands, and partly at the University of Inverdoon, and based on the author's own experiences studying medicine at Aberdeen. Loosely laid in is the publisher's subscription slip and a small 4 page booklet flyer for the 'Novels of Sinclair Lewis'. An extremely elusive title with such attributes.
