Lewis, Wyndham ~ The Jews – Are They Human?
George Allen & Unwin, London : 1939
The First UK printing published by George Allen & Unwin, London in 1939 The BOOK is in Very Good+ condition with the publisher's original red cloth boards, lettered to the spine and the front board in black. Some light ghosting to the covers in places with some dust-marking and light spotting to the top edge. Early splaying of the front board. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good+ condition with some fading and toning to the spine. A few marks in places with a small closed tear to the upper spine fold with a little associated loss. The wrapper presents well in the removable Brodart archival cover. This book was previously owned by the Scottish Modernest artist and lawyer Edwin G Lucas with his penned name and date 1939 to the upper front blank end-paper. The title is ironic, as the book conveys the author's revulsion to anti-semitism following his visit to Germany in 1937. An increasingly scarce title.
