Kauffer, E. McKnight ~ The Art Of The Poster : With The Scarce Original Wrapper
Cecil Palmer, UK : 1924
The First UK printing published by Cecil Palmer, UK in 1924. This is the first Trade edition. There was also a special edition issued at the same time which was signed by the author. The BOOK is in Very Good++ condition with some pushing at the spine ends and some mild bumping and rubbing to the corners. The paper labels to the spine and front cover remain very clean and intact. The spine blue colouring remains bright and unfaded. Light toning to the text block and page edges with mild offsetting to the end papers. Free from inscriptions and erasures. The scarce paper WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ or better condition. Toning to the spine and edges. There is some reinforcement tape to the verso of the spine ends and upper edges which does not show through to the front. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. The book is profusely illustrated in black and white and colour, most are full-paged, many printed recto only. Kauffer points out 'the modern Poster is still in its adolescence,' and he also notes with examples, bad painters design bad posters, and good painters have always produced good posters. A very scarce title with the original wrapper. Collectible.
