The First UK printing published by Constable, London in 1987. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. A hint of toning to the text-block and page edges. Free from inscriptions. The WRAPPER is complete and is in near Fine condition. Just a hint of creasing to the upper edges. The wrapper looks very striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. The book has been signed (without dedication) to the half-title by the author. Shortly after the filming began of 'The Last of England', Jarman also began work on this volume of his journals, which contains diary entries and interviews, notes on the script, stills from the filming, and B/W photographs of Derek, his family and friends. Amongst other things, Jarman writes of his childhood, coming to terms with his sexuality, life in the 60's and 70's, his early work as a painter and designer for Ken Russell's groundbreaking films and his debut as a director. A sharp copy. Signed titles by this author are very scarce.
