The First UK printing published by Hamish Hamilton, London in 1953. This is the first Trade edition and not the more commonly found 'Book Society' edition. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. Light pushing at the spine tips and lower corners. The crimson top-stain remains vibrant. Light spotting to the text-block and prelims. A Neat previous owner's bookplate and contemporary penned name and date to the front pastedown. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ condition. Some edge-wear with some loss at the upper spine end. Closed tears to the rear lower flap fold, upper front spine fold, upper rear panel edge and the lower front spine fold with associated creasing. Light rubbing to the lower spine The Val Biro wrapper artwork remains striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. The book has been signed (without dedication) by the author to the title page. 'The 'Go-Between' was successfully adapted into a film in 1971 and was directed by Joseph Losey. Harold Pinter adapted the novel to provide the screenplay. The film starred Julie Christie, Alan Bates, Margaret Leighton, Michael Redgrave and Dominic Guard. It won the Palme d'Or at the 1971 Cannes Film Festival' (Wiki). An uncommon title to find signed. Collectible.
