The First UK printing published by Harrap,London in 1939.The BOOK is in VERY GOOD condition.The covers are very clean with just a hint of fading of the colouring to the spine.The White lettering remains very clean and bright.Light toning and spotting to the text block.Mild offsetting to the end papers but the remaining pages are clean.Previous owner's dated inscriptions to the front blank end paper.The WRAPPER is complete and is in VERY GOOD condition. It bears the correct price of 7/6 net.Minor edge wear with creasing and a little loss in places at the spine ends and folds.Some tape reinforcement to the verso of the wrapper.The wrapper looks very attractive in the removable Brodart archival protector.The wrapper image shows Manager George Allison giving a tactical briefing to his team.Allison took over at Arsenal after the untimely death of Herbert Chapman and led the team to three successive championships.Leonard Gribble was a prolific author who also wrote under several pseudonyms.Born in 1908 he had one leading character, Superintendent Anthony Slade.Despite his volumous output he probably remains best known for his football based mysteries,namely 'The Arsenal Stadium Mystery 'and 'They Kidnapped Stanley Matthews'.The soccer connection makes them doubly collectable.A very uncommon title.
