GREEN, Russell ~ Venice. Together with two signed Christmas Poems.
FIRST EDITION. B. H. Blackwell, Oxford: 1916.
8vo., sewn blue card wraps, printed with titles in silver to upper cover; together with two white Christmas cards signed by Russell Green (8vo., cream, printed in yellow and purple respectively), containing two poems by the poet; THE BOOK with light vertical crease as if at some point folded; lightly chipped at edges; scattered spotting throughout; with the bookplate of Aldous Huxley (possibly posthumous) to the inside front cover, and Venice postcard pasted to inside rear. First edition. 'Venice' was the winner of the Newdigate Prize Poem in 1916. A contemporary of Huxley whilst at Oxford, Green contributed to 'Oxford Poetry', which Huxley edited, in 1916. Green later went on to become the editor of the short-lived modernist magazine 'Coterie', which also featured work by Huxley. Unusual with these attributes.
