The First UK Printing published by The Hogarth Press in 1939. The BOOK is in Very Good+ condition. Light pushing at the spine ends. The gilt titling remains bright. Very slight bowing of the front board. Very light age related toning and marking to the text block. Light offsetting and spotting to the prelims and end papers. Free from inscriptions. The scarce WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good condition. The correct first issue with 7s 6d net. to the lower front flap. Edge-wear with loss to the spine ends and the rear upper panel. Light loss in places to the front spine fold. Some professional Japanese tissue repairs to the folds on the verso. The lower front fold flap has some slight loss to the lower edge. The wonderful John Banting design however looks very striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. One of only 1200 copies printed and the author's scarce third title. Henry Green being the pseudonym of Henry Vincent Yorke. Very scarce with such attributes.
