Folio; yellow-green card covers, printed in black throughout; housed in a matching portfolio sleeve backed in dark green cloth tape; with envelope housing facsimile sheets of the poems; near-fine with one very faint mark to upper cover; the loose sheets a touch creased in places; portfolio sleeve with some creasing, nicking, and minor splitting to edges. Protected in a removable Brodart sleeve. Limited edition, one of a series of special sets with all facsimile poems signed by the poets. The set was commissioned by the Ilkley Literature Festival in April 1973 to honour “one of its most distinguished contributors” and “whose influence on contemporary literature has been profound.” Auden passed away in September of the same year, aged just 66. The contributors include: Alan Brownjohn Charles Causley Kevin Crossley-Holland D. J. Enright Roy Fuller James Kirkup George Macbeth Peter Porter Peter Redgrove and Jon Silkin each of whom took, as inspiration, a title or epigraph from one of Auden’s published works as a starting point. The work also includes two leaves of Auden's 'Lullaby'.
