The Sole UK Printing published by The Bodley Head, London in 1975. Tall 8vo., yellow paper wraps, printed with title lettering and an image of a 'Wild Thing' to the front cover; reproducing several captioned black and white sketches throughout; The BOOK is in near Fine condition, with just a couple of minuscule spots and tiny nicks to the spine ends. The book is protected in a removable Mylar sleeve. Inscribed and dated by Maurice Sendak to the half-title: "For Pete - With best wishes! Maurice Sendak, Dec. 75". Sendak was an American children's book illustrator who found fame with a series of eight books by Ruth Krauss (including A Hole is to Dig), which he illustrated throughout the late 1940s and early 50s. In 1963 he published 'Where the Wild Things Are', which quickly became a bestseller, and has sold over 20 million copies worldwide. 'Pictures of Maurice Sendak' was an exhibition produced through a collaboration between the artist, the director of the Rosenbach Foundation (where many of the drawings are now kept), the staff of the Bodley Head, and the Ashmolean Museum. Scarce with such attributes.
